I woke up this morning with a smile on my face and I just knew
that today was going to be a good day.
I'm sure somebody reading this knows what I'm talking about. There wasn't any specific reason for the
smile, it was just there. And my
thoughts of having a good day were confirmed when I read my Daily Word before work. The title of the message for the day fit my
mood perfectly: I Am Jazzed with
Irrepressible Joy! I am going to
share what it said because it really touched me and I'm sure it'll do the same
for someone else:
I proclaim today to be a day of joy, no matter what the current circumstances in my life may be. I do not dwell in pessimism, lack, fear or doubt. Today I am jazzed with irrepressible joy!My exuberance is fueled by my awareness of true joy--the joy that lives within me. It does not depend on outer situations or other people. This joy is innate. It comes from the unfailing Source of happiness and serenity within me.When I allow joy to surface, even in difficult times, its powerful energy calls forth my good. As I share joy freely, my own joy is increased. For you shall go out in joy...the mountains and the hills before you shall burst into song. --Isaiah 55:12
Wasn't that a beautiful Word??
Now back to my story...The post office called me yesterday to
notify me that not one, but TWO
packages had arrived with my name on them!! Go
mee!! I wasn't expecting anything so if
you all (GC staff) were trying to surprise me, it definitely worked! I asked who the package was from and of course,
I wasn't able to understand the post man's pronunciation of the name. After a few pointless "huh?" and
"what did you say?" questions, I decided to give up on his ability to
say the name right and told him that I would come in tomorrow (today) to pick
them up. When I got there, I saw that
the boxes were labeled with my previous supervisor's name!! I was so overjoyed
to see her name and I just about tore the boxes to shreds trying to get them
open in a hurry! Christmas definitely
came early...there were soo many goodies in there! Including marshmallows!! I told my PC bff about
the marshmallows and of course he wants me to wait until he comes to visit so
we can make SMORES!! YUMM!! Thank you UA Grad College sooooo very much for that
package! I love everything in it and
even more than the goodies, I really appreciate your letters and cards. My face was beaming from ear to ear as I
opened up each envelope and read your words over and over. I can't say this enough: I have the best support system in all the world! There's no way I could do this without all of
the people who are cheering me on. I
really do, genuinely, appreciate everything that you all send. From the goodies, to the letters, to even the
short Facebook and text messages that you send reminding me that I can do
this. I thank God for each and every one
of my friends and family members. I am
beyond blessed and highly favored. Thank you!

P.S. In the spirit of Christmas,
I decided to share my goodies with my coworkers. I usually share a couple things at a time
because if you let them, my coworkers will eat up EVERYTHING, leaving me with
nothing. But this time I stopped by the
health center on my way home (with my goodies in tow) and as expected, they
devoured half of the contents of the package within 10 minutes...I did tuck
some things away for myself though (: can't give away everything.
Again, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU UA GC!!! You all are the
best!!
