Reality Check: To Africa in Early May

Just yesterday, I received the big news I had been waiting 6 LONG months to receive: where I would be going and when??!!!! Well, it so turns out that I will be spending the next 27 months of my life after April in Africa.  The exact country and date of departure will be arriving via snail mail within the next 5-10 business days and I absolutely positively can't wait to finally know the big WHERE and WHEN.

I am so very grateful for this experience that God is slowly bringing to pass.  I feel like no matter what I set my mind to, the Lord makes sure that it happens for me.  There are times when I question the paths I take in this thing called life, but then I remember that all of these big dreams I have and all of these amazing things I am so blessed to do, are all a part of His will for me...if it wasn't supposed to happen, it wouldn't come to pass.  Plain and simple.

I said all of that to say that I got a reality check yesterday when I found out that I am actually going to leave this country.  There was some comfort in not knowing if I was going or not, but now that it's real, I'm sure I have experienced every emotion possible within the past 24 hours; excitement, fear, joy, anxiety, the list goes on.  I must say though, my amazing family and the best friend I have listened to me, comforted me, and reminded me that I can do all things through Christ; I have nothing to fear because He is with me.  I'm sure  my time as a Peace Corps Volunteer will live up to the standard of being the toughest job I'll ever love, but I am ready for the challenge.  I'm diving in head first and will see it through to the end.

Stop by in two weeks for updates!!

Love and Peace Corps,
