I'm all stocked up on necessities until the close of my service so the list consists of food items only. I absolutely love surprises, however if you're totally lost and clueless in regard to what types of things bring a smile to my face, here is a list of items that make it feel like Christmas in Rwanda any time of the year:
- Any and everything in the candy aisle (literally)
- *Breakfast foods (ie. pop tarts, granola bars, etc)
- Canned tuna, salmon, crab meat
- Snack foods (ie. chex mix, beef sticks, crackers, vanilla wafers, etc.)
- Oreos!!!
- Chips Ahoy (crunchy)
- Trail Mix
- Dried Fruit Mix
- Chocolate Covered Pretzels
- Fruity candy, Chocolate
- Pringles
- Rice cakes
- Anything else you think will hold up in transit from America to Rwanda
- Airborne/Emergen-C
Thank you X one thousand!!!!
Love and Peace Corps,
Dametreea
**PS Be sure to send all mail and packages as "International Airmail" (The post office can help you understand what this means)
Also, it wouldn't hurt to write religious quotes and symbols all over the packages and write Sister Dametreea Carr for the name to decrease the chances of the contents being stolen (nobody messes with God in Rwanda) (:
